Born in Szczecinek, Poland, Fr. Bodnar immigrated to Edmonton, Canada in 1989 where he finished High School. In 1990 entered Holy Spirit Seminary and studied at St. Paul University in Ottawa where he received a Baccalaureate in Theology – Eastern Christian Studies and a Master of Theology. He also received a Bachelor of Education – Primary Junior Division Diploma from Nipissing University in North Bay, ON. Fr. Peter was ordained on May 10th, 1998. From 1999-2004 he served St. Volodymyr & Olha Ukrainian Church in Cawaja Beach and Exaltation of the Holy Cross Ukrainian Catholic Church in Barrie. He also served as Chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital in Toronto. Fr. Bodnar has been at St. Mary’s in Sudbury and St. Michael’s in Coniston since 2004. He is married to wife Renata and they have two sons, Matthew and Nicholas.
![]() Father was born on May 23, 1941 in Lesajsk, Western Ukraine, now Poland. His parents, Wasyl Struc, born in Lviv, mother Maria, born in Stare Misto near Lesjsk. The family came to U.S.A. from Austria after W.W. II and settled in Chicago. In 1956, at age 15, he came to Canada for his high school studies and Novitiate with the Basilian Fathers in Mundare, Alberta. In 1961 studied philosophy and theology at St. Paul’s University in Ottawa. 1965-68 studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy, earning a S.T.B Degree in Theology. Ordained to the Holy Priesthood on June 11, 1969 by Bishop Isidore Borecky and assigned to St. John the Baptist Church in Ottawa. In 1970 Father was sent to the U.S.A. where he served 35 years in the Stamford Eparchy. He was Assistant in two parishes, Pastor in five parishes, also Dean of the Buffalo and Boston Deaneries. In 1994, Father was on loan to the Philadelphia Archeparchy until 2001. Bishop Basil Losten recalled Father to Stamford where he worked part-time in the Chancery Office, and was appointed Spiritual Director of St. Basil’s Seminary in Stamford, Connecticut. In 2005, at the request of Bishop Stephen Chmilar, Father Marian returned to priestly ministry in Canada. His temporary assignments since his return to Canada were in St. John’s, Brantford, ON; Holy Protection Monastery, Orangeville, ON, Holy Protection in Thunder Bay, ON and now St. Mary’s, Sudbury, ON. .
